Weekly Lessons 1-2 Graders
This week in PSR, students learned about the miracle of the loaves and fishes and how it points to the gift of the Eucharist. They discussed the Last Supper and how Jesus gives us His Body and Blood as the Bread of Life.
Bring this conversation home. For more discussion questions please check out this weeks newsletter.
This week we learned about the Mass as a memorial of Jesus’ sacrifice and Resurrection. They discussed how the Eucharist makes the saving events of faith present and explored the four main parts of the Mass, emphasizing the importance of full participation.
For more details and ways to continue the conversation at home, check out this week's newsletter!
First and second graders will be continuing Chapter 14 this week, deepening their understanding that the Mass is not just a reminder of Jesus’ sacrifice, but a living memorial where His saving work is made present to us through the Eucharist. They will continue practicing the four parts of the Mass and their prayers — especially beginning the Act of Contrition — as they grow in understanding the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist
This week, first and second grade students are learning about the miracle at the Wedding at Cana and how it points to the gift of the Eucharist. They are beginning to understand that at the Last Supper, Jesus gave us His Body and Blood and instituted the priesthood so that we can receive Him at every Mass.

The students are continuing Chapter 8, spending time reviewing and strengthening core concepts. Consistent attendance is important, as these lessons build week to week and are thoughtfully prepared by our volunteer teachers.

Students will continue Chapter 8 when they attend, as our volunteer teachers faithfully prepare each week regardless of numbers. Because of repeated absences, parent attendance at the February 22 meeting is required so we can discuss expectations moving forward.
Third and fourth grade will continue working through Chapter 8, as we were unable to move forward due to low attendance last week. Parents are asked to attend the meeting following the 10:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday, February 22nd, to discuss attendance and the importance of consistent participation in PSR.
This week, we learned that all Catholics are members of the Body of Christ and that, with the help of the Holy Spirit, we continue Jesus’ work by using our gifts and talents to serve God and others.
To bring the conversation home, please review this week’s newsletter.
This chapter teaches that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist, and that the Church gathers at Mass to receive Him in Holy Communion. Students learn that we prepare our hearts to receive Jesus reverently and grow closer to Him through the gift of the Eucharist.

Weekly Lessons 5-6 Graders
This weekend in PSR, students learned about what makes the Church one, holy, catholic, and apostolic, and how the Holy Spirit works in our lives through His seven gifts. We discussed how these marks and gifts help us know the true Church and empower us to live as faithful disciples of Jesus.
Students explored how God’s plan of creation is fulfilled and renewed in Christ, especially through the meaning of the “eighth day,” which symbolizes new life, resurrection, and baptism. They learned that while God rested on the seventh day, Christ’s Resurrection ushers in a new creation that Christians already share in through baptism.
For additional resources to continue this conversation at home, families are encouraged to explore the Catechism of the Catholic Church on creation, baptism, and the Lord’s Day.
This week in PSR, the kids watched a video from the Catholicism series that helped them better understand who Jesus is and why His identity matters in God’s plan of salvation. Through Bishop Robert Barron’s teaching, they explored how encountering Christ should leave us both amazed and unafraid in our faith. For more information, or to watch this video yourself, you can view Amazed and Unafraid by Bishop Robert Barron.
This week, students learned about angels as pure spiritual beings created by God to serve as His messengers and carry out His divine will. They also explored the nine choirs of angels, including familiar archangels like St. Michael, St. Gabriel, and St. Raphael, and discussed how angels help guide, protect, and serve in God’s plan of salvation.

This week, students reflected on Jesus’ 40 days in the desert and how His victory over temptation reveals the true meaning of Lent—prayer, fasting, and reliance on the Holy Spirit in spiritual battle. To continue the discussion at home, watch this short video the goal of Lent.
Or consider doing something as a family this Lent. Catholic Icing is an awesome website full of Catholic crafts and ideas of what families can do to make Lent meaningful. It's not too late to add more meaning this Lent!
The class studied Abraham’s covenant with God, including his meeting with Melchizedek and the story of Abraham and Isaac. We also looked at how this event foreshadows Christ’s sacrifice and how many of these biblical moments occurred in the same region where key events of Jesus’ life later took place.
To bring the lesson home, please watch this short video together showing some of the places where these biblical events took place—sites that later became part of the story of Jesus and the salvation of the world.
Class Summary:
Students explored the history and tensions between Jews and Samaritans to understand why Jesus speaking with the Samaritan woman in John 4 was so significant. The lesson showed how Jesus breaks through divisions and invites everyone into true worship and faith.
Video:
Students also watched a short Catholic reflection from the Capuchin Friars, which connects well with both Father’s homily and the themes discussed in class.

Weekly Lessons 7-8 Graders
This week the students discussed original sin, free will, and God’s great gift of forgiveness and mercy. Through discussion, reflection, prayer, and the example of the saints, students will explore why forgiveness—especially through Confession—is essential to our relationship with God and how we are called to live gratefully for the salvation we have received.
This week, 7th and 8th grade will begin Chapter 9, focusing on Christ as our Savior and how God’s plan of salvation is fulfilled through Jesus. Students will learn about the Paschal Mystery and how we continue to receive new life in Christ through the Church and the seven sacraments.

Seventh and eighth grade students are exploring how the Holy Spirit forms us into the Body of Christ, calling us to live as disciples together within the Church. They will discuss how our faith is both personal and communal, and how each person’s gifts help the Church continue Christ’s mission in the world.
This week we started on Chapter 11, learning how Christ established the Church to carry on His saving mission through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Students reflected on the role of Church authority, the sacraments, and what it means to live as active members of the Body of Christ.
This week, the confirmation class explored how God calls us to use our free will to choose what is good and how Jesus, our Mediator, brings us salvation through faith and Baptism. They also reflected on what it means for the Church to be catholic and how prayer strengthens our communion with God.
This week, students learned about grace and how it strengthens our relationship with God, keeping us spiritually “tethered” to Him. We discussed the difference between venial and mortal sin, and how our choices can either deepen that relationship or damage it.
For more information and ways to bring the discussion home, please review the Newsletter!
This lesson explores how sin and unhealthy habits can weigh down our spiritual lives and weaken our relationships with God and others. Through discussion, Scripture, and reflection, students learn that self-control and “dying to self” during Lent help free us from those burdens so we can grow stronger in faith.
