Ignite Ministries Bible Study
Ignite Ministry is excited to invite students and families to a new ongoing Catholic Bible Study, meeting on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. You do not need to be a Sacred Heart parishioner to attend — students and families from other parishes and even other denominations are welcome. While all are invited, this is a distinctly Catholic Bible study, grounded in Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition, and the teachings of the Church.
This study is designed for upper elementary, junior high, and high school students, with parents warmly encouraged to participate alongside their children. We will gather to read Scripture together, ask real questions, and explore how God’s Word speaks into our lives today.
Our starting point is the Old Testament, beginning with the Creation story. Together, we will explore how the people, events, and promises of the Old Testament point forward to Jesus Christ as the Messiah, and to the sacraments of the Catholic Church.
Scripture will be approached using the classical Catholic method of interpretation—first examining the literal meaning of the text as understood by the Church, and then moving into its spiritual meaning and how it applies to our lives.
This study draws from the wisdom of the Church Fathers—such as St. Augustine and St. Ignatius—as well as trusted modern Catholic scholars including Dr. Scott Hahn, Dr. Brant Pitre, and Dr. Tim Gray, with regular references to the Catechism of the Catholic Church. This is not a packaged program or video series, but a living, discussion-based study rooted in the Church’s long tradition of biblical interpretation.
People have asked how long the study will continue. The answer is simple: as long as there is interest and participation. We may pause or shift format during the summer months (possibly exploring topics like Theology of the Body), but we plan to continue the same Scripture series when the school year resumes.
So bring your Bible, your highlighters, and your questions. We will write in our Bibles, make connections, and break open Scripture together as we seek to understand how God has been revealing His plan from the very beginning.
